Community + Tools

A new op-ed has just landed about New Power. A new framework has been created. Where do I put the content?!

I am adding an op-ed, or press piece about New Power.
I am adding a framework, or marketing video on New Power.
I am adding my post to the Community + Tools page.
I am adding Amazon reviews.

How to add a Community post

  1. Go to the “Posts” tab, and find a current live post, ex. post.
    • Select “duplicate post” under the publishing options in the box on the right.
  2. Update the title with the name of the source, and the author.
    • ex. “The Guardian, Decca Aitkenhead”
    • Also fill out the following “Short Title” field with just the source. This controls the name that is shown on this post’s individual page. Since the name of the source, and the author are displayed on the page in smaller text, only the most important information to the user needs to be shown here. In this case, the Guardain is a more notbale source than the author’s own name.
  3. Edit the permalink with a name that corresponds to the Short Title.
    • ex. https://thisisnewpower.com/2018/04/22/the-guardian/
  4. Update the Teaser Phrase with the name of the article.
    • ex. “New Power author Jeremy Heimans: ‘Like it or not, the old world isn’t coming back'”
    • This allows the name of the article to be exposed on the Community page expandables.
  5. Also update the Community Post Subtitle with the name of the article.
    • This is very important! This allows the article name to be shown on the individual post page.
  6. Since this is a Community post, make sure the “Show share buttons” is turned off.
  7. Update the CTA link to have a link to the article you are highlighting.
  8. In the text box, add in an important blurb from the article. Please keep this text short, and sweet, and also engaging to the user.
    • NOTE: Since there are many op-ed’s featured on this page, it is better serving to pull an opionion, or an engaging line from the article rather than the first few sentences. This prevents repeating a summary of the book or Jeremey and Henry’s names 100 times on this page.
  9. Update the Post SEO Settings with:
    • The custom post title: Authors name, credentials | New Power
    • The custom post description: with the text you’d like to see when people search / post
  10. If the article has an image that is unique to New Power, (ex. The Guardain took a headhsot of Jeremy. We can not use a generic stock photo / professional picture of Richard Branson), upload the photo in the Featured image box on the right hand side.
    • If you would like this post to be a Featured post on the Community page, you must include a photo. If your article does not have a photo, please reference the “Image Bank” in the team dropbox.
    • All other posts will show the photo on the individual post page only, seen here.
  11. Once all changes are added, select “update” to publish the post. Please view the page when complete to make sure it looks like the post you duplicated.
  12. Add your post to the Community + tools page. Follow instructions on how here.

How to add a Tools post

  1. Go to the “Posts” tab, and find a current live post to duplicate.
    • If you are uploading a framework.
    • If you are uploading a video.
    • Select “duplicate post” under the publishing options in the box on the right.
  2. Update the title with the name of the tool.
    • ex. “The Leadership Compass” or “Build a Movement”
  3. Edit the permalink with a name that corresponds to the title.
    • ex. https://thisisnewpower.com/2018/04/18/how-to-build-a-movement/
  4. Make sure the “Show share buttons” is turned on.
  5. In the text box, add in an explanation of the framework or video. Please keep this text short, and sweet, and also engaging to the user. The full text will be shown on the Tools page so we do not want to make it overcrowded.
  6. Update the Post SEO Settings with:
    • The custom post title: Graphic name | New Power
    • The custom post description: with the text you’d like to see when people search / post
  7. Fill out the “Format” box on the right hand column by selecting either “video” or “image” depending on your content. This is important to differentiate the tools from the community posts on the backend, helping you find the pages faster if you need to edit them in the future.
  8. Upload the framework, or still of the video in the Featured image box on the right hand side. All Tools posts need an image.
  9. If you are posting a video, fill out the “Post Video” box as well. Use the same image as the Featured Image here.
  10. Once all changes are added, select “update” to publish the post. Please view the page when complete to make sure it looks like the post you duplicated.
  11. Add your post to the Community + tools page. Follow instructions on how here.

How to add Endrosements

You are in the wrong place! Both celebrity and reader reviews go under the “Endorsements” page, not Community + Tools. Navigate to the Quotes tab or the Reader Reviews tab depending on your needs.

If there is a quote from your op-ed from a notable author, feel free to add that to the Quotes list. For more information, read about Endorsements here.
